The Strategic Urgency Behind JINSA
Jakarta serves as the economic heart of Indonesia, with a metropolitan population exceeding 34 million people across the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) region. Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK), designed to serve 60 million passengers annually, has been operating far beyond its installed capacity — with a historical peak of over 80 million passengers prior to the pandemic and more than 54 million passengers currently served each year.
The absence of physical expansion space at CGK, coupled with aggressive capacity growth from regional hubs such as Singapore Changi, Kuala Lumpur International Airport, and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, places Jakarta in a vulnerable position of potentially losing its status as the premier aviation hub in the ASEAN region. The cost of inaction is not merely operational congestion, but a loss of economic competitiveness and a threat to the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision.
JINSA is proposed as a strategic and measurable response: an engineered aviation island complying with ICAO Annex 14 Code F standards, integrating world-class airport infrastructure with logistics zones, commercial areas, and environmental sustainability into a single cohesive ecosystem — in regulatory alignment with DKI Jakarta RTRW 2024–2040 and Governor Regulation No. 21/2010.
